This was a project I started independently, and quickly grew with the community. There was a need for Cocoa developers to be able to have a "Media Browser" like the one Apple uses in its own iLife and iWork software.
I wrote the initial XML parsing code (for iTunes and iPhoto) and figured out how to open the iMovie 4 and 5 project files to get at the contents, and tied it all together in a panel that looked much like Apple's own.
After that, I posted it to the CocoaDev wiki, to allow others to submit improvements. Greg Hulands and Blake Seely took the code and improved upon it, adding a plug-in architecture. Karelia Software now manages the project (they took it over when I went off to college, and because they had the server resources), and it remains BSD-licensed and open-source, per my original request. You can find it in Google Code.
